  • A man was stabbed in the back last Saturday outside a Luton nightclub and police are appealing for witnesses. The attack took place at around 3.15am, outside the Exchange Nightclub, in King Street. The victim is believed to have been in an altercation and then approached door staff to tell them he had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital after suffering a punctured lung. DC Colin Knight, investigating, said: “The victim received nasty injuries and we need to find whoever did this to him. It is believed he was stabbed by a white man, but we do not have any further description of his attacker at this time. “We know the area outside the nightclub was extremely busy at the time and we urge anyone who may have seen something to contact me. Any information, no matter how small, could assist our enquiry, so please get in contact.” Two men were arrested in connection with the incident, but were later released without charge. Call DC Knight on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 with information. Posted on 26/04/2016. Served to 61 unique users. Facebook Link

  • M1 | Bedfordshire | Northbound | Incident | Road closed Drivers planning on heading north from the Home Counties, London and South East regions today, are encouraged to note that the M1 is closed northbound between Junction J11 and J12 after a collision involving an HGV and a car, resulting in 3 minor injuries. Bedfordshire Police and all emergency services were in attendance. Due to a significant diesel spillage (c. 800 litres) from the HGV - over 2,000 square metres of carriageway (approx. 330 tonnes of road surface) needs to be dug up, removed & resurfaced on the main carriageway and the northbound entry slip road at J11. Please note that the spillage was in across 3 lanes of the main carriageway and on the northbound entry slip road at J11. The remaining unaffected lane of the main carriageway will need to stay closed, to enable our contractors to work safely. Traffic is being diverted off the road through Dunstable and Houghton Regis. Road users should follow the route marked with a ‘hollow triangle’ symbol on local road signs. This will take traffic via the A505 westbound, to the Poynters road exit. Continue over 2 roundabouts onto Park Road. At the next roundabout take the first exit onto The Green and at the second roundabout turn right onto the A5120 (Bedford Road) to re-join at the M1 at J12. Road users are strongly urged to consider one of the below 'strategic' routes rather than heading to J11 of the M1 and using the local diversion route. The A1M/A1 northbound to the A421 westbound, via Bedford – back to J13 of the M1 The M11 northbound to the A14 at Cambridge, head westbound on the A14 – back to the M1 at J19 (Catthorpe) The M40 northbound to J10, and then head north east on the A43, via Brackley and Silverstone to the M1 at J15a It is currently anticipated that this closure will remain in place until the afternoon of the 2nd April. Please be assured that every effort is being made to re-open this road as soon as it is safe to do so. Updates at http://www.trafficengland.com/ Posted on 02/04/2016. Served to 14470 unique users.
