  • A sergeant has been dismissed from Bedfordshire Police after being convicted of an assault. Sergeant Michael Pinsent was found to have breached standards of professional behaviour at a special case hearing at Bedfordshire Police HQ on Wednesday (4 May). A finding of discreditable conduct which amounted to gross misconduct was upheld at the hearing. He had been convicted of common assault following a trial at Luton Magistrates’ Court in January. The incident occurred off duty and at the time he was fined a total of £1,700 which included court costs and compensation to the victim. Sgt Pinsent was dismissed without notice.
