Red Routes Could Be Coming To Luton

Luton Borough Council are to create strategic Red Routes in the town, which would mean vehicles are not permitted to stop, subject to public consultation. The Council has a duty (as the Highway Authority) under the Traffic Management Act 2004 to ensure expeditious movement of traffic and parking and stopping on some roads creates significant delays to traffic flows.

The pilot roads proposed are Kimpton Road, Airport Way to the airport, New Bedford Road, Gordon Street, Upper George Street, Inkerman Street, Dunstable Road, Wellington Street, Stuart Street and Dunstable Road, Bury Park, Leagrave Road, Marsh Road. However, if successful it is proposed to extend to more main roads.

The impact on health has been assessed as positive with the reduction in obstruction of footways encouraging walking and cycling. Congestion will also be reduced which will result in less vehicle pollution although the speed of traffic may increase.

Bramingham - Aggravated Bleach Spray Burglary 5 March

BRAMINGHAM  — Bedfordshire Police are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in Bramingham on Monday (5 March) evening.

At approximately 8.45pm, a number of offenders, thought to be as many as five or six, entered a house on Holford Way (B333) and demanded the occupants hand over money and jewellery.

SPRAYED BLEACH INTO EYES The offenders proceeded to assault the occupants, threatening them with a knife and a metal bar and spraying bleach into the victims’ eyes, leaving one man requiring hospital treatment. They then searched the house, taking a significant amount of cash and high value gold jewellery, and made off in a dark car.

One of the offenders is described as a white man, of stocky build, with ginger hair and a ginger beard. A second man was described as tanned, skinny, and aged in his early 20s.

A further offender was described as a slim white male, and approximately 15-years-old.
